It is a dessert that was introduced to Taiwan under Japanese Rule, but later spread to predominantly Chinese populated areas.

Unlike Hawaiian Shave Ice, which uses flavored syrups, bàobīng consists of various sweet and fun toppings such as fresh fruit, boba, and jellies.

Our bàobīng comes with your choice of toppings and condensed milk to flavor your shave ice.

  • I wish I could give this business 10 stars! They are so amazing! This food truck is such a wonderful addition to Maui and it's the best treat my lactose intolerant heart could ever ask for (VEGAN CONDENSED MILK?!?) you will be met by the sweetest owner who is happy to tell you about the origins of Bàobīng and how she made this happen! They have a punch card, which trust me, will take no time to fill up whether you live here or you are just visiting! This is the perfect snack any time of day. Delicious fresh local fruits and the perfect sweetness of the condensed milk, vegan or otherwise) is the perfect addition to the shave ice underneath. The best way to beat the heat in south Maui. A must stop in my opinion.

  • Came here after lunch and it was a great afternoon snack. Tried the mango and lychee. It's a little different from regular shaved ice because it's topped with condensed milk. Very refreshing and tasty. It's at a food truck stop so there is some outdoor seating

  • Something refreshing for those hot Kihei days! Definitely hit the spot. It's a nice alternative from always having shave ice. This truck is located in the Kihei Food Truck Park next to Azeka's. Lots of parking and places to sit and enjoy your treats. She is open 12pm-8pm or until sold out. We came at around 230pm and she was out to lunch but we didn't wait long for her to come back. Seems like she may be a one woman show so please be patient. Be sure to follow her on instagram for more current updates. Tried her regular ice and got the special with strawberry ribbon ice. Both were light and refreshing. Out of all the toppings, my favorite would have to be the rice balls. Similar to the mochi topping, but better. Stop in and support local!

  • Absolutely loved it. One clerk working so she takes the order and gets to it right away - once, I walked up and she was making shaved ice for a previous customer so I had to wait to order. But so worth it. The shaved ice is so fluffy and I’ve always loved the condensed milk combo so this was a hit with me and the available toppings are well thought out and can’t go wrong choosing any of them.

  • I had seen this business pop up on my Instagram a few months ago, but at the time it wasn't open & the page had no photos, not even a coming soon. Fast forward to earlier this month, it popped up again, this time there was photos, they were open, & they were in Kihei. Couldn't wait to try it! Finally made it there last week, perfect for a hot Kihei afternoon. There are 2 sizes, individual & sharing. For the individual size you can pick up to 2 toppings for free & 3 for sharing. I believe it's $1 for each additional topping. There are also premium toppings like mochi that are offered for $1 more. It was my boyfriend & I so we went for the sharing & got haupia, mango popping boba, & rice balls. The ice comes topped with condensed milk & you can also get lihing mui powder on it if you want. Texture similar to bingsoo, however this ice was just plain ice, so it relies on the drizzles & toppings for its flavor. To which after reading more about this dessert baobing, it is indeed more about the toppings. Everything was good, our favorite was the rice balls. A very light dessert, not too sweet. Ice is very fine, but surprisingly even with the Kihei heat, didn't melt as quick as I thought. I like that she had pictures for all her toppings & an explanation as to what baobing was. It is definitely not like shave ice. Definitely need to go back asap.

  • Fantastic! This was such a sweet surprise. I ordered several toppings and everything tasted deliciously refreshing and made with care. Seriously - so many times I’ve been unhappy with what I get at shave ice stands, and this time was a real highlight. This shave ice is definitely elevated in a new and fresh way; it’s on another level. I can’t wait to go back and try some other combinations. You really get your money’s worth with portions. It is enough for two but I couldn’t stop and ate the whole thing myself …and will again. Enjoy!

  • So so so fun!! And delicious! In Maui there's probably over 1,000 shaved ice places around, and it's really hard to choose which place to try. This place is doing some amazing stuff, and it feels so different from any of the shaved ice desert shops around. You can choose between a personal size and a shareable size. Personal gets 2 toppings and shareable gets 3, with any additional being only $1. They douse your personal yummy treat in condensed milk and a very cute edible flower wafer. I got a personal size with rice balls and egg pudding and my partner got boba and coconut pudding! The area this is at is AMAZING! There's a little circle of About 10 different food trucks, with lots of seating and shade! There's plenty of parking all around the area too. One of the trucks was even playing movies on a t.v. screen he had attached to the front of his truck for kids, very sweet. Do not miss this place on your next trip!! Must stop for sure.

  • What an awesome Yelp find! We happened to be in Kihei and wanted a cool treat. Yelp led us to this awesome place! It's located in the food trucks near Longs. This is an asian shaved ice place. Instead of the traditional fruit syrups, the shaved ice is covered with sweetened condensed milk- yum! The shaved ice is super fine and fluffy. There are 2 sizes and lots of different toppings to choose from. Based on the Yelp reviews I wanted to try the rice balls but sadly they were out. Instead I ordered the haupia & mango with mochi. Others in my party ordered the rainbow jelly & boba with mochi and passion fruit popping boba & azuki red beans with li hing mui (free topping). My favorite was the mango because it was fresh fruit. The least favorite was the rainbow jelly. But everything was so good! It was refreshing and not too sweet. We'll definitely be back to try the rice balls next time.

  • Thankful that I stumbled upon Bling Bing while grabbing lunch on a stormy December day with my family! As Taiwanese Americans, we were a little hesitant at first to spend our dessert calories on a new venue, given that we frequent many favorites in California and Taiwan and are especially picky about topping quality. However, we were thrilled with the authentic texture and taste of our 3-topping order of rice balls, boba, and taro on top of a perfectly sweet condensed milk shaved snow. The tender chewiness of the lightly sweet boba and rice balls was exactly what I was craving, and the fragrant taro paired perfectly with the milky snow. Cute twists such as Xmas colored rice balls and an edible flower wafer were non-traditional but fun. The owner was lovely and patiently took our order -- we look forward to stopping by again soon!
